The document discusses ways for believers to withstand temptation, including not fearing man, praying often, gathering together with fellow believers, fortifying oneself spiritually, following inspired leaders, repenting of sins, and being ready for Jesus Christ's return. It also talks about how God may stretch believers' souls at times to help them grow spiritually in the same way that stretching a violin string produces music.

August 7 2016 - Sunday Service-message- WARFARE PRAYER THESE 7 SPIRITS FOR ...Catherine Lirio
The document discusses the importance of saving souls and engaging in spiritual warfare through prayer. It outlines seven spirits that can blind people to the gospel - blindness, disobedience, religiosity, lies, worldliness, idolatry, and unbelief. Believers are called to pray against these spirits so that nonbelievers can understand the gospel of salvation and be saved. When believers save souls through sharing the gospel, it causes joy in heaven and touches Jesus' heart, and he is more likely to answer their prayer requests.
July 17 2016 - Sunday Message - WARFARE PRAYERCatherine Lirio
This document outlines weapons to use in spiritual warfare against evil forces. It discusses binding and loosing on earth as heaven allows based on agreement in prayer. Putting on armor from God prepares one to stand against schemes of the devil. Major weapons include: invoking the name of Jesus Christ, the blood of Jesus, declaring God's word from scripture, praise and worship, and prayer with fasting. These weapons are effective through faith in Jesus' authority and sacrifice.
Can You Know God? Yes, according to Psalm 19Mark Worden
The document discusses how God reveals himself through his creation as described in Psalm 19:1-6. It also discusses how God reveals himself through his word, the Bible, as outlined in Psalm 19:7-14. The Bible teaches about God, reveals Jesus Christ, and is described using analogies like a sword, lamp, bread, and more. Nephi assigns his brother Jacob to give a sermon to the Nephites using chapters of Isaiah as the subject. Jacob reads the words of Isaiah to the people and explains some of the key doctrines around the atonement of Jesus Christ, including the need for resurrection due to the fall of Adam, the infinite nature of Christ's atonement, and the conditional blessings that come through having faith in Christ. Jacob testifies that Christ is the way and will greet those who come unto him at the gates of heaven. He offers a simple map to staying on the straight and narrow by remembering God's words, praying daily, and giving thanks nightly so hearts can rejoice. Jacob reminds the people they are

This document contains notes from a seminar on the concept of God's kingdom. It discusses what it means for Jesus to be Lord and how acknowledging Him as Lord is essential for salvation. Lordship requires allowing Jesus' opinions to control one's actions. Simply calling Him Lord is not enough; one must live according to His commands. Changing one's confession of Him as Lord is considered sinful. For God's blessings and protection, one must remain steadfast in allowing Jesus to be the master of one's life.
The document discusses the importance of patience and possessing one's soul through patience as stated in Luke 21:19. It provides information on the meaning of possession, patience, and soul from biblical passages. Possession refers to active control, patience involves enduring difficulties humbly as God works, and the soul is one's personality and actions. The conclusion exhorts applying patience to possess one's soul by obeying God and not trying to control circumstances. Remaining patient allows God to work and saves one from being possessed by sin or the world.

Book of Mornon lesson 6 free to choose liberty and eternal lifeDavid Mortensen
Lehi begins his last message to his people in 2 Nephi 1-2, urging them to choose liberty and eternal life. He pleads with them to wake up from spiritual sleep and obey God so they will not be destroyed. Lehi teaches his son Jacob about the importance of the Atonement and opposition as necessary for agency. All people can choose eternal life through Christ or eternal death by following Satan and their own sins.
The document discusses the concept of God's kingdom through discussing various biblical concepts:
1) It outlines the basic concept of God's kingdom according to Prophet Abu Bako which includes elements like the King, territory, lordship, culture, constitution, keys, citizenship, and law.
2) It discusses the concepts of jurisdiction, covenant, and how Christ redeemed believers from the curse of the law so that Gentiles could receive the blessing of Abraham through faith.
3) It examines passages about the covenant God made with Abraham and how through Abraham's offspring (Christ) all nations would be blessed.
This document summarizes a seminar on the concept of God's kingdom. It defines key terms like jurisdiction and lordship. It explores what it means for Jesus to be Lord and how his followers should exercise service rather than lordship over others. The seminar discusses how understanding God's kingdom involves understanding God as King over all, and bearing the fruits of his kingdom values. Being chosen and appointed by God means going to bear lasting fruit in the different spheres of society.
I Corinthians 14:37-38 God does not want us to be ignorant of concern for others, God's righteousness, the hardening of Israel, the possibility of our falling, spiritual gifts, what others do for us, Satan's Devices, the resurrection.
The document discusses the importance and purity of God's word according to several Bible passages. It shows that God's word should not be added to or diminished from and warns that Satan may try to corrupt or pervert God's word. Some Bible passages are also presented showing differences between the King James Version and the New International Version translations.
This document discusses the importance of having a holy conversation through our words, actions, and thoughts as Christians. It emphasizes that we should sanctify ourselves and be holy like God is holy. Our entire manner of life should reflect holiness. This includes speaking in a way that edifies others and avoids corrupt communication, acting with wisdom and good works, and thinking on things that are true, honest and praiseworthy. How we talk, behave and think will be judged by God, so we must guard our hearts, minds and mouths to reflect Christ in all we say and do.

Chapters 2 &3 provide biblical insight to the 7 church to whom John writes. There are practical lessons we can learn from each of these churches today.
The document discusses the meaning of the word "anon" as it is used in the Bible. It provides several Bible verses from Matthew and Mark that use the word "anon" and defines it to mean "immediately" based on a parallel verse in Mark. It also discusses Jesus ordaining the twelve disciples and lists the names of the disciples from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Finally, it compares Jesus giving the Beatitudes from Matthew 5:1-12 with the parallel account in Luke 6:17-22.

Discerning Between True and False GuidancePeter Hammond
1) God speaks to us through Scripture, visions, dreams, angels, circumstances He orchestrates, our conscience, wise counsel of believers, songs/hymns, and spiritual gifts.
2) To hear God's voice requires having faith, a clean heart through confession of sin, worshipping Him, and applying Christ's lordship to all areas of life.
3) Scripture commands believers to listen for God's voice in order to know His will, deepen our relationship with Him, and understand His character.
This document discusses how to get the most value from attending church. It is divided into three sections: 1) Information - receiving information from God, such as through reading scripture. 2) Application - applying the information in our lives through wisdom and obedience. 3) Explanation - explaining the information through illustration, demonstration and teaching others, with the help of the Holy Spirit. The goal is to continue sharing both new and old knowledge from God.
This document provides guidance on preparing for and following up with people who make decisions to follow Christ after an evangelism event. It discusses praying for the hearts of those who will attend to be open, understanding different worldviews, clearly explaining the gospel, and mentoring new believers. Key points include praying to bind Satan's influence, having entry conversations to learn people's worldviews, explaining the biblical and historical context of the gospel message, and caring for new believers like nurturing children as described in 1 Thessalonians. The overall message is about spiritually preparing people's hearts beforehand and providing ongoing discipleship afterwards.

The document provides background information on the biblical book of Jude. It discusses that Jude contains 25 verses and 613 words, and its main theme is contending for the faith. It was written by Jude, the brother of James, and was addressed to "the called" to encourage them to defend the truths of Christianity against false teachings. The document also examines some of Jude's references to historical events and enemies of the faith that Christians were facing at that time.
The document discusses overcoming fear through having a close relationship with God. It encourages enlarging one's vision, strengthening resolve, and not being afraid as God will be with believers. It suggests communicating with God daily through prayer, worship, and reading the Bible. Choosing God over the world and having faith, not fear, are keys to pleasing God and receiving his promises. Hidden sins can damage relationships with God and create fear, so confession and repentance are important.
1) Samuel learned to recognize God's voice after Eli instructed him to say "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening" whenever he heard God call his name.
2) It is essential for Christians to be able to discern God's voice from other noises in order to understand and do His will.
3) God speaks through Scripture, circumstances, dreams, visions, angels, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit like prophecy, wisdom and discernment. Maintaining a close relationship with God through prayer and obedience helps us recognize His voice.
God speaks to His people in many ways, including audibly, through visions, dreams, angels, circumstances, and the conviction of our conscience. However, the primary way God guides us is through studying and meditating on His Word, the Bible. It is important to discern God's voice from other influences and not be deceived. We should seek guidance from dedicated Christians and apply the principles of Scripture to our lives daily.
The document discusses overcoming fear through having a close relationship with God. It encourages enlarging one's vision, strengthening resolve, and not being afraid as God will be with believers. It highlights how Joshua overcame fear by learning from Moses' example of walking closely with God. It emphasizes choosing God over the world by having faith in Him through prayer, God's word, and making Him the priority in decisions. Sin creates fear but confessing and repenting restores fellowship with God.

11.30.14 part 5 The Grace of God in our HumilityCatherine Lirio
This document discusses the importance of humility and grace in the Christian faith. It provides several examples from the Bible where people were exalted by God when they humbled themselves, such as Daniel who prayed daily. The document contrasts humility with pride, noting that one must humble themselves before God to receive grace. It encourages behaviors like prayer, forgiveness, and avoiding boasting to cultivate humility before God.
2013 Book of Mormon : Chapter 8 (Institute Lesson by hgellor)Leah Gellor
- Jacob taught from the writings of Isaiah about the history and destiny of Israel. He discussed their scattering after rejecting Jesus Christ, and their future gathering when they come to believe in their Redeemer.
- The principles of Israel's gathering include believing in Jesus Christ, repenting, being baptized, receiving the Holy Ghost, and keeping God's commandments. Missionary work will lead many Jews to this knowledge and result in their gathering.
1. The document discusses the stages of growth of a lily as an analogy for stages of spiritual growth:
2. The first stage is germination, represented as the "seed safety stage" where a Christian is safest in their faith.
3. The second stage is the bud, where a Christian stands strong in their faith like a bud standing upright.
4. The third stage is pollination of the flower, represented as a "social stage" when Christians unite together in their faith.
5. The final stage is seed dispersal, where Christians spread their faith to others through persuasion, just as seeds are spread.
1. Ananias and Sapphira lied about how much money they received from selling property and keeping some for themselves, and both fell dead after being confronted by Peter for lying to the Holy Spirit.
2. Many signs, wonders, and healings were occurring through the apostles and the number of believers in the church continued to greatly increase.
3. The sick and afflicted were even being carried into the streets in hopes that Peter's shadow might heal them as he passed by.
This document provides a concordance of words from the New Testament relating to Christian pacifism and nonviolence. It examines 50 key words such as "enemy", "violence", "war" and analyzes their biblical usage. The document also includes two biblical passages from Isaiah envisioning a future without war. It argues that if Jesus taught nonviolence, it would be present in early Christian writings, and provides numerous examples from the New Testament of Christians suffering violence but not engaging in it themselves.
This document discusses conditions for prayers that God answers according to the Bible. It outlines six conditions: 1) Faith 2) Calling on God's name 3) Having proper motives 4) Forgiveness 5) Praying according to God's will 6) Persistence in prayer. Each condition is explained through short biblical passages provided in the document.
The document discusses the importance of showing love to others as commanded in Hebrews 13:1-3. It says Christians should:
1) Continue loving fellow believers as brothers.
2) Show hospitality to strangers, as some have entertained angels unknowingly.
3) Remember those in prison or suffering persecution as if sharing in their experience.
A godly man loves the written and preached word of God for several reasons. He loves the written word by diligently reading, meditating on, delighting in, hiding in his heart, defending, preferring above all things, talking about, and conforming to it. He loves the preached word because of the efficacy and salvation it brings, as it comments on and applies the written word. A godly man's love for the word is shown by how he receives its counsels, threats, and consolations, and how he responds to its reproofs of sin in his own life.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

you, and He will take
hold of your
heartstrings and he
will wrench them until
you don’t feel you can
bear it anymore. And if
you cannot stand it
you will not be fit for
an inheritance in the

3. Lesson 36 Objectives
1. Study the righteous
Nephites and Lamanites
as their faith is stretched to
the breaking point.
2. Watch how Lachoneus
and his people withstood
the evil of their day
3. Learn 6 strategies to
withstand temptation
5. Helaman 16:7-8
7 And as they went forth to lay their hands
on him, behold, he did cast himself down
from the wall, and did flee out of their
lands, yea, even unto his own country, and
began to preach and to prophesy among
his own people.
8 And behold, he was never heard of more
among the Nephites; and thus were the
affairs of the people.
6. 3 Nephi 1:2-3
And Nephi the son of Helaman, had departed out
of the land of Zarahemla, giving charge unto his
son Nephi, who was his eldest son, concerning the
plates of brass, and all the records which had been
kept, and all those things which had been kept
sacred from the departure of Lehi out of
Jerusalem.
Then he departed out of the land, and whither he
went, no man knoweth; and his son Nephi did
keep the records in his stead, yea, the record of
this people.
7. 3 Nephi 1:5-7
But there were some who began to say that the
time was past for the words to be fulfilled, which
were spoken by Samuel the Lamanite. And they
began to rejoice over their brethren saying, “Behold
the time is past and the words of Samuel are not
fulfilled; therefore, your joy and your faith
concerning this thing has been in vain. And it came
to pass that they did make a great uproar
throughout the land and the people who believed
began to be very sorrowful, lest by any means
those things which had been spoken might not
come to pass.
8. 3 Nephi 1:8
But behold, they did watch
steadfastly for that day
and that night and that day
which should be as one
day as if there were no
night that they might know
that their faith had not
been in vain.
9. 3 Nephi 1:9
Now it came to pass that there was
a day set apart by the unbelievers,
that all those who believed in those
traditions should be put to death
except the sign should come to
pass, which had been given by
Samuel the prophet.
12. 3 Nephi 1:15-17
And it came to pass that the words
which came unto Nephi were fulfilled,
according as they had been spoken;
for behold, at the going down of the
sun there was no darkness; and the
people began to be astonished
because there was no darkness when
the night came. And they began to
know that the Son of God must shortly
appear; yea, in fine, all the people
upon the face of the whole earth from
the west to the east both in the land
land north and in the land south, were
so exceedingly astonished that they
fell to the earth.
13. 3 Nephi 1: 26
“And thus the ninety and second
year did pass away, bringing glad
tidings unto the people because
of the signs which did come to
pass, according to the words of
the prophecy of all the holy
prophets.”
14. 3 Nephi 2:1
And it came to pass that thus passed away
the ninety and fifth year also, and the people
began to forget those signs and wonders
which they had heard, and began to be less
and less astonished at a sign or a wonder
from heaven, insomuch that they began to
be hard in their hearts, and blind in their
minds, and began to disbelieve all which
they had heard and seen—
15. 3 Nephi 2:11
And it came to pass in the
thirteenth year there began to
be wars and contentions
throughout all the land; for the
Gadianton robbers had
become so numerous and did
slay so many of the people,
and did spread so much death
and carnage throughout the
land that it became expedient
that all the people, both the
Nephites and the Lamanites
should take up arms against
them.
16. 3 Nephi 3:6-8
Therefore I write unto you, desiring that ye would yield up unto
this my people, your cities, your lands, and your possessions,
rather than that they should visit you with the sword and that
destruction should come upon you.
Or in other words, yield yourselves up unto us, and unite with
us and become acquainted with our secret works, and become
our brethren that ye may be like unto us—not our slaves, but
our brethren and partners of all our substance.
And behold, I swear unto you, if ye will do this, with an oath, ye
shall not be destroyed; but if ye will not do this, I swear unto
you with an oath, that on the morrow month I will command
that my armies shall come down against you, and they shall
not stay their hand and shall spare not, but shall slay you, and
shall let fall the sword upon you even until ye shall become
extinct.
17. 6 ways to defend
against temptation
Scripture Defense
3 Nephi 3:12 Do not fear man
18. Do not fear man
“The fear of man lays
a snare but whoever
trusts in the Lord is
safe.” Proverbs 29:25
How might fear cause
someone to give in to
temptation?
19. Idolatry. When we care about what man thinks more than what God
thinks, we turn people into idols that we worship—seeking to please them in
order to earn their approval or respect.
Apathy. Fear man and you’ll quit taking risks because of the potential for
embarrassment or failure. If an endeavor is unlikely to succeed, you’ll never
take the chance. In other words, you’ll never do much of anything.
Dishonesty. It’s tough to speak truth into someone’s life because the
truth can be painful. If we fear somebody’s response, however, necessary
words will remain unsaid because we care more about ourselves being liked
than we do about keeping the commandments or speaking the words of God.
Decision Paralysis. When we live out of fear rather than out of
the convictions God has given us, we spin in circles unable to move forward .

21. Phillip Brooks
O, do not pray for easy
lives. Pray to be stronger
men! Do not pray for
tasks equal to your
powers. Pray for powers
equal to your tasks! Then
the doing of your work
shall be no miracle. But
you shall be the miracle.

2. Brought people to repentance through famine
3. Predicted the murder and fingered the
murderer of the chief judge
4. Converted the entire Lamanite nation and

29. The reality is that since
this is a gospel of
growth and life is a
school of experience,
God, as a loving Father
will stretch our souls at
times. The soul is much
like a violin string; it
makes music only when
it is stretched.
Editor's Notes
Our Father in heaven does the same thing to you and to me that I used to do to my father’s guitar. He allows our lives to play out and throughout the process trials, temptation, and tribulations come along, each of which turn the screws and wrench the stings of our hearts a little bit tighter. And on occasion this process continues until we are certain that we cannot take anymore and that the very next temptation or trial will cause us to snap and to break. But to our Father in Heaven this is not a game…..
You can hear the mocking tone of the people and I am trying with my family to hold on to my faith and it is being stretched tighter and tighter as first friends and then family begin to give up and join the unbelievers.
What do you think we would have done as a family sitting on our front porch watching sunset. Maybe today we would say as we watched the sun disappear behind the mountains and then the darkness would settle in. Maybe tomorrow we would say. And then the next day we would watch as the sun set and the darkness came. I believe that all of us in this room know what it is like to have hopes raised and dashed and raised and dashed? With every setting sun it seems like the strings of the heart would be tightened.
While none of us has ever had our life threatened because of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we all know what it is like to have our faith stretched to the breaking point. We have had bills we can’t pay, children who wander, friends and loved ones pass away, and serious illness that won’t quit. When you have been at this point, when your faith has been stretched to the limit, what has kept you from giving up and joining the unbelievers?
Imagine this time. The sun is setting, the moon has risen and instead of getting darker it is getting lighter, as light as noonday. If you listen carefully you can hear that sound. It is the sound of rejoicing, of weeping, the sound of people falling to their knees, of song, of faith being stretched to the breaking point and then finally being released.
